Community Involvement

Throughout the year White Rose Credit Union participates with various organizations for the betterment of the Community.

Each year members of White Rose's Staff have participated in the Charity Bowl held by the American Red Cross.

We also participate in numerous Blood Drives that they hold at various Events.

At this year's Charity Bowl, White Rose Credit Union presented the American Red Cross with a check for $2,145.90.

We had 18 staff members and their family members participate in the Event.

The Sweetheart Girls (far right) won the "Most Spirited Team" Award and raised $1,000.00 among themselves.

White Rose Credit Union holds a raffle at the Annual Dinner Meeting and Dance each year with all proceeds going to York's Helping Hand for the Homeless.

This year the raffle consisted of 6 themed baskets made by the Marketing/Communications Department, tickets were sold at each of our offices.

Mad City Money is approximately a 2 1/2 hour hands-on simulation (no lectures or Power Point slides) that appeals to youth and gives them a taste of the real world... complete with occupation, salary, spouse, student loan debt, credit card debt and medical insurance payments.

Participants build a monthly budget based on thier incomes (given to them).  They visit nine merchants in Mad City to purchase housing, transportation, day care, and other needs.  There's also a mall for wants. White Rose Credit Union has an Office in Mad City to offer finanical services and advice.

Mad City Money allows participants to make mistakes... and suffer the consequences of their decisions... in a realistic, but safe environment.  Most participants are surprised to learn "I can't have a big house and a new truck on my salary and still pay for day care and groceries."  Once the shock wears off, they re-evaluate choices and manage their money effectively.

If you are interested in White Rose running this simulation at your school or for a group of young men and women, please contact the Marketing/Communications Dept. by e-mail or by calling 717-755-9773 ext 111.

A trial run of "Mad City Money" was held in July at our Red Lion Branch.

All involved had a great time!

As part of the York County Financial Stability Partnership, White Rose Credit Union agreed to prepare taxes for working families with incomes at or below $49,000 and/or Senior Citizens.
